ACTION E.1. Establishment and meetings of the Steering Group
The Steering Group was established after the start of the project in 2010. They meet regularly – generally twice a year.
The following were the themes of previous Steering Group meetings:
- 2 meetings in 2010: establishment of the Steering Group and decision on the amendment of the grant agreement,
- 1 meeting in 2012: decision about reactivation,
- 2 meetings in 2013: year starting consultation approved the 2013 Annual Work Plan, decision on demolition of further military objects identified during work in progress,
- 2 meetings in 2014: year starting consultation approved the 2014 Annual Work Plan and amended the Partnership Agreement,
- 3 meetings in 2015: approval the 2014 Annual Work Plan during the year starting consultation, coordination of the post-project activities and the questions of project completion.
ACTION E.2: Project management and administration
An independent project manager supported the work of the partners during the execution of the project, especially in the area of preparation of progress reports and project administration, in liaison with the European Commission (EC).
During the project execution usually once a year an independent monitoring expert visited the project site representing the EC.
Besides the initial report, two progress reports and one mid-term report, a closing report was prepared.

2013
The Ex ante evaluation report as the first phase of monitoring is ready.

2014
In 2014 the Directorate of the Fertő-Hanság National Park has completed the following tasks:
• Partial survey of priority and indicator species (e.g. Pulsatilla pratensis ssp.nigricans, Iris arenaria and Orchis coriophora).
• Survey of the stock of selected butterflies with sampling technique.
• Counting of nesting birds.
• Survey of amphibians.
• Survey of reptile fauna along the transect.
• Defining the sampling areas on the grassland development areas and field collection using techniques of the monitoring plan (botany and zoology).
• Defining the sampling areas to explore the effects of grass burning areas and field collection using techniques of the monitoring plan (botany and zoology).
• Aftercare and evaluation of the results of attempts to exterminate invasive species.
Preparation of a foldout information handout to inform the public about the results of attempts to eradicate invasive species.

2015
The Fertő - Hanság National Park Directorate started the II phase of the monitoring tasks in spring 2015. The survey of protected and highly protected species is ongoing currently, with the species that are blooming at that time. In parallel, survey of the invasive species and sending their coordinates is under way in order to the Budapest Forestry Co. and the experts, who are doing the extermination in order to do the after care.

Defence Economic Office of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Hungary, - as the responsible partner for the audit - arranges the procurement of the project auditor. The procurement is finalized in the summer of 2015, contract delivery is ongoing. The project audit following the completion of all tasks, has been done in the period after the closing of the financial administration and has been finalized in February 2016.
